Meaning

Something a person must do because of their role, their job or the law, such as a parent caring for a child or a citizen voting.

Good to know

Usually followed by a possessive or by wa: wajibu wetu, our duty; ni wajibu wa kila mmoja, it is everyone's duty. Kutimiza wajibu is to fulfill one's duty, and jukumu is a close synonym.
