Meaning

A long, thin strand of cotton, silk or another fiber used for sewing or tying, or a similar fine strand such as dental floss or the filament of a bulb.

Good to know

U class noun, plural nyuzi: uzi mweupe, white thread; nyuzi za kushonea, sewing threads. Sindano na uzi, needle and thread, is a common pair; nyuzi are also stitches: kushonwa nyuzi tano, to get five stitches.
