How well a person, machine or institution does its work, such as a phone’s performance or a minister’s record in office. It is used mostly in Kenyan Swahili.

Good to know

U class noun with no plural, from kutenda kazi, to do work: utendakazi wa serikali, the government’s performance; utendakazi duni, poor performance. Tanzanian writing often says utendaji kazi.
