Meaning
As a preposition, marks the time from which something has been going on, like tangu. As a verb stem it is kutokea, to happen, to appear or to come out.
Good to know
Before a time: tokea mwaka 1991, since 1991; tokea lini?, since when? It means the same as tangu and toka. The verb kutokea is used for events: kilichotokea, what happened.
