Hardness and toughness, above all of physical work that needs great strength and effort. Kazi za sulubu are hard manual jobs, as opposed to office work.

Good to know

Used mostly after za or ya: kazi za sulubu, hard labor; mazoezi ya sulubu, tough training. The verb kusulubu, to crucify, is a different sense of the same Arabic root.
