Meaning
Says that something is not the way stated; la sivyo means otherwise, and au sivyo at the end of a question asks for agreement, like isn’t it.

Formed from si, not, and vyo, the way or manner. Sivyo hivyo means that is not so; la sivyo introduces what happens if a condition is not met.
