Meaning
A spirit, often an evil one believed to possess or trouble people. As Pepo or peponi it is paradise, the heaven of the faithful. It is also the plural of upepo, wind, as in pepo za kusi, the southern monsoon winds.
Good to know
For spirits it is an m/wa class noun: pepo wachafu, unclean spirits; kutoa pepo, to cast out a demon. For paradise it is n class: peponi, in paradise. Pepo punda is tetanus.
