Meaning

Joins na, with or and, to a short word pointing back to a ji class noun already named, like jambo, tatizo or gari: kuwa nalo is to have it.

Good to know

The sister forms follow the noun class: nayo, nao, nacho, navyo, nazo, nawo, napo. Nalo comes after the verb (tutapambana nalo) or starts a clause (nalo lina, and it has).

Examples

  • Gari hili nimekuwa nalo kwa miaka kumi.I have had this car for ten years.
  • Tatizo hili ni kubwa na tutapambana nalo pamoja.This problem is big and we will fight it together.
  • Jambo hili ni zito, nalo linahitaji muda.This matter is serious, and it needs time.
