Wood burnt slowly without much air until it becomes black and light, sold in sacks and used as cooking fuel in many homes; making it is a cause of deforestation.

Good to know

M/mi class noun, usually singular for the material: gunia la mkaa, a sack of charcoal; jiko la mkaa, a charcoal stove. Makaa is the same fuel in Kenyan and older usage.
