Meaning

A person in charge of protecting and managing a conservation area such as a national park, or one who keeps something in safe custody. Mhifadhi Mkuu is the chief conservator of a park.

M/wa class noun, plural wahifadhi, from kuhifadhi, to preserve. It is mostly a job title in Tanzanian parks and reserves: Mhifadhi Mkuu wa Hifadhi ya Serengeti, the Chief Park Warden of Serengeti.
