Meaning

To stop a fire or a light burning, or to turn off a machine, an engine or a phone; used without an object it means to go out or stop working. It also means to put down a revolt.

Good to know

Takes a direct object: kuzima moto, to put out a fire; kuzima taa, to switch off the light. The opposite is kuwasha; umeme umezima means the power is off.
