Meaning

To go down under the surface of water, as a boat that sinks or a person who drowns; also to become deeply lost in something.

Good to know

Takes no object: meli ilizama, the ship sank; alizama mtoni, he drowned in the river. Kuzama katika mawazo is to be lost in thought, and kuzamisha means to sink something.
