The applied form of kusubiri, to wait: to wait for something or in a place, and after ya or za to describe waiting areas.

Good to know

Often after a noun: chumba cha kusubiria, a waiting room; eneo la kusubiria abiria, a passenger waiting area. In speech it is also used where kusubiri would do: tunasubiria matokeo.

• Wagonjwa walikaa katika chumba cha kusubiria.The patients sat in the waiting room.
