Meaning

To pay attention to sounds or to what someone says, such as music, a speech or advice. Of a court, to hear and try a case.

Good to know

Kusikiza is more usual in Kenya, where Tanzania mostly says kusikiliza. The passive kusikizwa is used of court cases: kesi itasikizwa kesho, the case will be heard tomorrow.
