Meaning
To ask someone earnestly and politely to do something, or to urge people strongly, as leaders do when they appeal to the public.
Good to know
The person asked is the object, often with -wa-: aliwasihi wananchi, he urged the people. A second verb follows in the subjunctive or the infinitive.
