To greet someone or to salute them, as soldiers do. In the fixed phrase kusalimu amri it means to give in, to surrender to pressure or force.

Good to know

Kusalimu amri is by far the most common use: jeshi lilisalimu amri, the army surrendered. For everyday greeting, kusalimia is more usual: kumsalimia mtu, to greet someone.
