Meaning

To go on past a point, place or limit, for example passing the stop you wanted or doing something to excess. After ya or a verb it describes something beyond measure: mvua za kupitiliza, excessive rain.

Built on kupita, to pass. Kupitiliza moja kwa moja is to go straight on; kupitiliza kituo is to miss one’s stop. As a describing phrase: ulevi wa kupitiliza, excessive drinking; tajiri kupitiliza, extremely rich.
