To make food, drink or a pill go down the throat into the stomach. Figuratively, to accept something hard, such as a bitter defeat.

Good to know

Takes a direct object: kumeza dawa, to take a pill (by mouth); kumeza mate, to swallow saliva. Something hard to accept is ngumu kumeza. Not to be confused with meza, table.
