To make a solemn promise, often before God, a court or the nation, for example when taking office, giving evidence or vowing to do something.

Good to know

Kiapo is the oath and kuapisha is to swear someone in. The thing promised follows as a verb or kwamba: kuapa kulinda Katiba, to swear to defend the Constitution.
