Meaning

The Bantu language of the East African coast, now spoken across Tanzania, Kenya and much of East and Central Africa, and an official language of the African Union.

Good to know

Usually written with a capital, Kiswahili. As a describing word it means in the Swahili way or style (utamaduni wa Kiswahili). A Swahili person is Mswahili, plural Waswahili.
