Describes things made or done in the way of the local people rather than in a modern or foreign way, such as local chicken, home brew or traditional medicine.

Good to know

It does not change with the noun: kuku wa kienyeji, pombe ya kienyeji, dawa za kienyeji. As an adverb it means in the traditional way: walijifungua kienyeji, they gave birth at home.
