Meaning

Belonging to or concerning one person, not the public or the government; the private sector as against the state.

Good to know

Does not change with the noun: mambo ya kibinafsi, personal matters; sekta ya kibinafsi, the private sector (sekta binafsi in Tanzania). The adjective binafsi means the same.

• Hayo ni mambo yangu ya kibinafsi.Those are my personal matters.
• Alifanya kazi katika sekta ya kibinafsi.She worked in the private sector.
