Meaning

Describes doing something without care, order or purpose, like throwing rubbish anywhere or cutting trees without a plan. After -a it describes something worthless, foolish or of poor quality.

Good to know

An adverb placed after the verb: kutupa taka hovyo, to litter. Repeated as hovyo hovyo it is stronger. With -a it becomes an adjective: mambo ya hovyo, foolish things; mtu wa hovyo, a useless person.
