A part of something set aside for a person or purpose, such as a share of the budget or of an inheritance, and also a small heap of things sold together at a market.

Good to know

Ji/ma class noun, plural mafungu: fungu la bajeti, a budget allocation; kutenga fungu, to set aside funds. At the market, fungu la nyanya is a heap of tomatoes sold together. Fungu la kukosa is bad luck.
