Meaning
A boat or ship that carries people, vehicles and goods across a river, a lake or a stretch of sea on a regular route.
Good to know
Plural stays feri (n class). Kivuko is the more Swahili word, used for both the crossing and the boat; in Dar es Salaam Feri is also the name of the fish market by the ferry.
