A person whose people were the first to live in a land. Rwandan history calls the Abasinga and Abazigaba clans abasangwabutaka, the first inhabitants before the Abanyiginya kingdom.

Good to know

Plural abasangwabutaka, the far more common form. It is built from gusanga, to find, and ubutaka, the land: those the others found on the land.
