Meaning
A person sent to carry a message or to act for someone else, such as a government envoy or a delegate. In church use it names the apostles of Jesus, and Muslims call the Prophet Intumwa y'Imana.

The same in the plural (n class): intumwa ebyiri, two envoys. Intumwa za rubanda, envoys of the people, is the usual name for members of parliament.
