Meaning

To ask God for something on behalf of someone, especially at Mass or in memory of the dead. It also means to ask for something on someone's behalf.

Good to know

Applied form of gusaba, to ask: the one prayed for is the object (gusabira abarwayi, to pray for the sick). Misa yo gusabira is a Mass offered for someone. It is also said of asking for something for another: kumusabira akazi, to ask for a job for him.
