Meaning
Sets a deadline: the thing will happen by the stated time and not after it.
Good to know
Literally 'without it passing', a negative form of kurenga, to go beyond. It comes before the time: bitarenze ku wa gatanu, by Friday at the latest; bitarenze uyu mwaka, before this year is out.
