Meaning

After nta or a negative verb it means 'not even one, not a single' for an n or imi noun, as in nta modoka n'imwe, not a single car. In numbers it is 'and one': cumi n'imwe, eleven.

Good to know

Written n'imwe, na (and, even) joined to imwe (one); it agrees with n and imi nouns, and for people it is n'umwe (nta muntu n'umwe, nobody at all). The joined spelling nimwe can also be ni mwe, 'it is you (plural)'.
