The washing away of soil by rainwater running down the hills, a serious problem for farmers on Burundi's steep slopes.
Good to know
Farmers fight it by planting trees and digging ditches: kurwanya inkura, to fight erosion. A false friend: in Kinyarwanda inkura is a rhinoceros, and erosion there is isuri.
